What is ViFiber?
ViFiber by Viya is the Virgin Islands’ newest delivery of superfast communication signals via optical Fiber (OFC cable) to a home or a business center. ViFiber offers superior speed, higher bandwidth, reliability, and future-readiness
Why is Viya upgrading Internet speeds?
We are consistently making investments to future-proof and ensure that our core network offers the most reliable and resilient options to meet our customers’ growing demands for staying connected. As a result, we are launching our new ViFiber, fiber to the premises internet product which delivers just that.
How is Viya delivering ViFiber to customers?
Viya has had a deep fiber build post the 2017 hurricanes and invested in optimization over the past two years to deliver fiber at the curb which in turn gives us the ability to easily provide fiber services to any premises in the territory.
Why did we choose to do this upgrade now?
Over the last two years, as a result of the ongoing pandemic, our teams had the opportunity to see the full capabilities and stress-test the core network, especially in the advent of work from home and online school. The results indicated that the network readily and reliably delivers supporting supports the increased demands. This has given our Technical and Operations teams the confidence to execute speed increases for all, at this time -a first for the Virgin Islands.
Do I have to do anything to get ViFiber as a current Viya internet customer?
No. There are no steps required from customers as all existing customers have been included in this free upgrade.
Are there any other additional benefits of ViFiber?
ViFiber will allow us to offer you a myriad of new services which will run seamlessly with ViFiber speeds. Please ensure that you have opted in to be in the know first about the new bundles that will bring MORE value and convenience.
Do I have to pay more for this new product/ upgraded speed?
All existing internet customers have been upgraded to a minimum of 3X the original speed tier at no additional charge. You will see the new description and speed on your bill, but you will pay the same amount each month that you have been paying. There is no additional charge for this upgrade.
Will my speed upgrade expire?
No. Your new speed is permanent and will not expire.
I’m not getting my full speed now, so what guarantees that I will get it with the upgrade?
With your upgrade you will now get minimum three times the speed, which means that your internet experience will be better than ever before for the same rate that you are paying now. You will be able to work from home, browse, video chat, download files, game, and stream content online faster than the speed you initially signed up for – all at no additional cost to you!
Will I see a change on my bill?
The only change you will see on your bill will be the new ViFiber plan description and speed. Your monthly internet cost will not change. You will pay the same amount each month that you have been paying. This is just our way of saying “we know you have a choice, and we’d like to thank you for your business”.
Can I downgrade to the speed I had before and pay less?
Our internet speeds have been designed to meet the growing needs of our customers and their families especially in a more connected world. We have upgraded your speed to give you a better online experience. Now, you will be able to work from home reliably and simultaneously, browse, video chat, download files, game, and stream content online faster than the speed you initially signed up for – all at no additional charge. We invite you try it out. We are confident that you will like it so much you won’t want to change.
How is the new speed different from my old speed? What will be different when I log on?
As an exisiting customer, you have been automatically upgraded to the new speed packages.

What will my broadband service upgrade to?
Everyone gets a free upgrade, but it depends on what your current speed is to determine what the new one will be. For instance, if you currently have 8 mbs, you will get upgraded to 25 mps. If you have 25 mbs, you will go up to 75 mbs, and if you have 50 mbs, you will go up to 150 mbs.
When does this upgrade take place?
The upgrade took place on 11/4/22. All customers were upgraded to ViFiber speeds.
What kind of service improvement can I expect from faster internet?
Faster internet speeds allows more multitasking on the same device, and more devices working off the same Wifi? Kids want to stream a movie while you’re working and listening to internet radio? No problem!
Business Plans
You will now have a faster internet experience than before. You will be able to connect, work from home, download files and stream content and game online, faster than the speed you originally signed up for – all at no additional cost to you! This is our way of saying, “thank you” to our valued customers.
Will this affect my bundle price?
This upgrade will NOT affect your bundle or the price of your bundle. You will see the new upgraded speed and plan descriptions on your bill, but you will pay the same amount each month that you have been paying. This is just our way of saying “thank you for being an Viya customer”.
I am not getting the new speed, what can I do?
Follow these steps to resolve a problem with a your ViFiber connection which appears to be performing slowly: <<Confirm that this process applies>>
- Reboot your router and equipment.
- Check your WiFi connection is working correctly.

- Confirm the speed of your newly upgraded ViFiber connection.
- Close any programs which use the Internet connection.

- Factory reset your router and set it up again.
- Check your speed again.

- Check for Internet service problems – Call 779.9999 for your home service and toll free 833 Viya-Biz/ [833] 849-2249 for Business customers.
I’m not getting my full speed now, when will I see my speed increase?

What is my new upload speed? Did it increase as well?
Yes, upload speeds have indeed been also upgraded and will vary depending on the speed tier you are subscribed to. You will enjoy a minimum of 10Mbps upload for your home and 35Mbps for your business.
